Games Like No Other

Multiple generations have already spent hundreds, sometimes thousands of hours in front of a screen. We’ve all played as a plumber gulping down magical mushrooms in a highly questionable universe, a soldier sent on an impossible mission, or an adventurer tasked, for the umpteenth time, with saving a princess. The possibilities seem endless. And yet, they sometimes just go in circles.

At some point, a question comes up: what if there was something else?

Are we doomed to relive the same game mechanics forever, wait for the next annual update of a sports franchise, or explore the same old formulas over and over again?

Thankfully, no.

The Roads Less Traveled

Now and then, we’ll talk about certain AAA titles, the big-budget productions from major studios. But our attention is going to turn mainly toward the creators who dare to step off the beaten path.

Independent studios don’t always have the biggest budgets, but they often make up for it with creativity, boldness, and a drive to offer something different. Reinventing the wheel is hard, yet some developers still find a way to put a fresh spin on it.

That’s the kind of creativity we want to celebrate.

From Screen to Tabletop

Gaming didn’t start with a console.

Long before screens existed, there were cards, dice, and board games. We’ve all snagged the priciest property on the board, passed GO and collected $200, negotiated shady alliances, or lost a friendship or two over a game that was supposed to last thirty minutes and somehow dragged on for three hours.

There’s a massive universe to discover here too. Board games keep evolving, and today they offer experiences just as rich as plenty of video games. They also come with one solid advantage: they still work when the Wi-Fi decides to take a day off.

Play Is Play

No matter the format, what matters most to us is the experience.

Video games, board games, tabletop, indie creations, or experimental projects. We want to explore every form of play worth paying attention to.

Of course, we’ve got a soft spot for dark worlds, horror, fantasy, and anything that breaks from the ordinary. But when a game is simply excellent, no matter the genre, it earns its place at BOOM!

So keep an eye on this section. The game is just getting started. There are still plenty of levels left to explore.
